Behavior issues occur commonly in our companion animals.  We hear about everything from the great rewards of a well trained agility dog to the difficulties of an aging pet that is having accidents in the house.  All unwanted behaviors start for a reason - sometimes medical and sometimes not.  It is important to make sure your pet is not suffering from a medical issue before deciding that a "behavioral" problem is a training issue.

Common Behavioral Issues:

  • Destructive Behavior
  • Urinating Inappropriatly
  • Failure to respond to commands
  • Anxiety
  • Fearfullness
  • Biting/Attack Behavior

Our doctors are happy to discuss behavior challenges with you.

As behavior is a complicated area we also recommend Julie Flanary at Wonder Dogs (behavior consults, training classes and coaching) and Irma Kapsenberg with Gentle Dog (home visit training) as good local resources to assist with dog training issues once a medical reason for the issue is ruled out.
